The International House of Japan Library
The International House of Japan Library is a special library for Japanese Studies which was established in 1953.
The library has been a center supporting Japanese Studies academics and information specialists in Japan, by organizing workshops for Japanese Studies information specialists, publishing reference guidebooks for Japanese Studies and so on, with cooperating institutions overseas and in Japan, as well as offering general library services.
The library is situated in a building listed as a major work of Japanese modern architecture and has beautiful views of a traditional Japanese-style garden reflecting the changing seasons.

Reservations are unnecessary, but please contatct the library if you cannot come to the

Oct. 30, 2009 Refurbishment of the Library Walls
Through the donation of I-House member Mrs. Hiroko Abegglen, we were able to refurbish the library walls.

Jun. 18, 2009 Cessation of Book Loan Renewals through the Online Catalog (OPAC)
We have ceased operation of the book loan renewal function of our online catalog (OPAC) as of June 16, 2009. From now on, we will take renewal requests by phone (03-3470-3213) or e-mail (infolib@i-house.or.jp).
We are sorry for any inconvenience this may cause.

Apr. 8, 2009 Notice on Change of Loan Period
The loan period for library materials has been changed from 2 weeks to 3 weeks, starting from April 1, 2009.
*Checked out books can be renewed twice, as before.
Apr. 8, 2009 Grant from the Kasumi Kaikan
The Library has received a grant in the amount of 300,000 yen from the Kasumi Kaikan.
As a result, 20 notable books in the field of Japanese studies have been added to our collection.
