    Ms. Nemoto, who worked as a journalist for more than 25 years, will talk about the reason why she joined the UN. She will also share her experiences and thoughts while confronting refugee problems as an official of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) in Nepal, Kosovo, Burundi, and Turkey.

    Photo: Nemoto KaoruMs. Nemoto worked as an announcer and reporter for TV Asahi, one of Japan’s largest media companies, and has more than 25 years of experience in journalism, communications and public relations. Her work with the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) encompasses various capacities and duty stations including the Deputy Head of Private Sector Fundraising in the Division of External Affairs in Geneva, Head of the Sub-Office in Nepal, Protection Officer in Kosovo and Burundi, and Associate Protection Officer in Ankara, Turkey. Between UNHCR assignments, Ms. Nemoto worked as the Executive Director of the Japan Association for UNHCR and as a Public Information Officer for the World Food Programme in Japan. She holds a Master of International Affairs degree from Columbia University, New York, and a Bachelor of Law degree from the University of Tokyo.
