COVID-19 Preventive Measures at I-House (May 26)

In response to the continued spread of the coronavirus (COVID-19), the International House of Japan has strengthened its measures to ensure the health and safety of all our guests and visitors.

Public areas, guest rooms, and other facilities

・All service, cooking, and cleaning staff will wear face masks.
・Alcohol-based hand sanitizers are available at the building entrances, restrooms, and in other areas.
・Doors, doorknobs, elevator buttons, stair handrails, and other frequently touched areas in the building will be disinfected regularly.
・In the guest rooms, doorknobs, switches, remote control equipment, and other frequently touched areas are disinfected regularly.
・The air-conditioners in all rooms are set to maximum air volumes to increase ventilation. The windows of the seminar rooms may be unlocked and opened for ventilation.
・Both restaurants (“SAKURA” and “Garden”) will open during our regular business hours from May 27. Tables and chairs are set so as to maintain proper social distancing requirements. Service and cooking staff will wear gloves in addition to face masks.
・Food and beverage buffets, including the breakfast buffet in “The Garden” have been suspended for the time being. Please order breakfast from the set menu.
・The Library, including the periodical section, will be open Monday through Saturday, from 9:00 am to 6:00 pm from May 27. Desks and chairs are positioned to maintain proper social distancing requirements (fewer seats are available than with the previous arrangement).
・Please enter the elevators no more than two people at a time.
・The smoking room in the first basement should be used by only one person at a time.

Employee Precautions

・Employees are required to check their temperature before coming to work. If their temperature exceeds 37.5℃ and/or they feel unwell, they will not enter the premises.
・Alcohol-based hand sanitizers are installed in the rear areas including service entrances, staff offices, restrooms, and canteen, and employees are strictly instructed to wash and disinfect their hands upon entering the premises and handling items.
・Nonessential domestic/international business/personal trips by employees are now prohibited.

To our guests and visitors

・Kindly wear a mask when you are in the public areas of the building. (If you are not, a staff member may ask you to do so.)
・Upon entering the premises, please use the hand sanitizer installed at the entrance and in other parts of the building.
・If you are lodging at I-House, please fill in the health status check sheet at the front desk upon check-in.
・Please let the staff know immediately if you feel unwell.
