April 13, 2005 About our Biblio-Japan: Library Catalog (OPAC)
Now nearly all of our book catalog is available electronically through our Biblio-Japan: Library Catalog (OPAC). Part of it is also available through the National Institute of Informatics Catalog Database. Since the retrospective conversion was outsourced, we are now starting to work on checking the data.
February, 2005 Notice of IHJ Library services from April 2005
To “reinvent” the International House to better serve the rapidly changing world of the 21st century, the House will close the Main Wing for renovation from April 1, 2005. During this closed period, the Library will stay open at its current site to serve House Members.
However, we are very sorry to inform you that we will be unable to serve you exactly as usual during construction period. You may understand that it will be hard to keep a quiet environment for the Libray and a comfortable passage for pedestrian access, because of the construction. The coffee shop, main lobby, and parking lot will not be open. As the number of the staff of the I-House will be reduced during this period, the services of the Library will be scaled down as follows:
Open: Monday through Friday. 9 AM – 5 PM
Closed: Saturdays, Sundays, National Holidays, and New Year recess
Open to: Members of the International House of Japan
Available services: usage of reading room, circulation service, photo-copying service, reference service, Inter-Library Loan services for Members, on-line database service, and usage of the Internet
****Payment for library services will be accepted only in cash in Japanese yen. Credit card as well as cash in foreign currency cannot be accepted.
We are sorry for any inconvenient this may cause. If you have any questions or request concerning the service of the Library, please feel free to ask the Library staff. All the staff of the Library will work hard and do our best to serve you. If you will be visiting the Library from abroad or from outside Tokyo, we would appreciate being informed of the date, time, and nature of your requests in advance. Your patience and understanding in this matter is greatly appreciated.
