I-House is hosting a series of special, members-only lectures featuring world-renowned guest speakers. In October, we will welcome Yoshie Kris, stage advisor for the Opening and Closing Ceremonies of the Tokyo 2020 Paralympic Games.

In her lecture, Kris, who herself has a disabled leg and founded SLOW LABEL to break down barriers between those with disabilities, the performing arts, and society, will talk about how this forum for co-creation was founded and the efforts that went into communicating the powerful “Diversity and Harmony” message at the Paralympic Games. A diverse cast of performers, both with and without disabilities, worked together to create memorable opening and closing events at the Games. This is a legacy that will offer valuable hints in the post–Tokyo 2020 era in realizing an inclusive society that respects and embraces diverse values and lifestyles.

This lecture is being held online and will also be open to the public. There will be a question-and-answer session, during which Kris will respond to questions posed by participants when they register.

For those who missed the Paralympic Ceremonies, a video is available at the NHK Tokyo 2020 Paralympic website.
